Forktale ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting the privacy of our users, especially children. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard information when you use the Forktale app.

Children's Privacy (COPPA Compliance)

Forktale is designed for parents to read stories to children ages 3-10. We comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13. All account creation and management is performed by the parent or guardian.

Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account using Sign in with Apple, we receive a unique identifier and, optionally, your email address. We do not receive or store your Apple ID password.

Child Profile Information

You may create child profiles with a first name and age range. This information is stored to personalize story content and is associated with your parent account.

Usage Data

We collect anonymized usage data such as stories read, choices made within stories, and app preferences. This data helps us improve the reading experience.

Subscription Information

Purchase and subscription data is managed through Apple's App Store. We receive confirmation of your subscription status but do not process or store payment information.

Information We Do NOT Collect

We do not collect precise location data, photos, contacts, or any other sensitive personal information. We do not use advertising trackers or share data with advertisers. We do not collect any information directly from children.

Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored securely using industry-standard encryption. Story data is cached locally on your device for offline reading. Account data is stored on secure servers with restricted access.

Data Retention and Deletion

You may delete your account and all associated data at any time by contacting us. Child profiles can be removed directly within the app. Upon account deletion, all personal data is permanently removed from our servers within 30 days.
